The new call for applications for the Future Leaders in the Americas program is open until March 2nd. Emerging Leaders in The Americas Program (ELAP). The goal is to foster the development of human resources for a new generation of leaders in the Americas, while strengthening relations between Brazilian and Canadian higher education institutions. ELAP provides short-term scholarships (4 to 6 months) for students interested in studying or conducting research in Canada. While in that country, scholarship recipients must remain affiliated with PUCRS.

This year, there are seven scholarships for University students, three of which are in University of Montreal, which requires proficiency in French, and two in both Kwantlen Polytechnic University and in University of Regina, which require proficiency in English. Eligible areas of study can be found on the website.
The scholarship amount is $7.200 Canadian dollars (one-off payment). These scholarships will be administered by the host Canadian institutions and are intended to cover airfare, visa to Canada, health insurance, books, equipment and living expenses.
Those interested in studying in Canada will be able to learn more about ELAP and other possibilities for academic mobility in the country during the #PartiuCanadá chat, scheduled for February 28, at 16:30 pm, in room 509, building 40. (Ipiranga Avenue, 6681). The event is promoted by the Office for International and Interinstitutional Affairs (AAII).
The meeting will be attended by Paula Manozzo, Trade Commissioner Assistant of Global Affairs Canada, Renata Ligabue, ambassador of the Université de Montréal, and PUCRS Journalism student Fellipe Pacheco Vargas, participant of ELAP 2017. The group will meet to talk about undergraduate, graduate and scholarship opportunities in the North American country, in addition to answering participants’ questions.
