Edward M. Griffith’s, chairman of the Anthracite Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association Scholarship Committee, announced that applications are being accepted for the chapter’s 2025 scholarship award. Application forms have been provided to high schools for the Edward M. Griffiths II Memorial Scholarship. This is the chapter’s 28th year of awarding scholarships and more than 50 students have received assistance with their college expenses from the scholarship.
The scholarship committee will award three $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors who have been accepted at any of Penn State’s campuses, including Penn Tech, for the summer or fall of 2025. The scholarship is available to students residing in the chapter area in Northumberland County, including seniors at Line Mountain, Mount Carmel Area, Our Lady of Lourdes Regional, Shamokin Area, Shikellamy and Southern Columbia high schools as well as graduates of the Northumberland County Career and Technical Center. Ed Griffiths, scholarship committee chairman, added that the requirements for the scholarship, which will be reviewed by the committee are as follows:
