Huntingdon County Junior Livestock Committee members, from the left, Jessica Mills and Cristina Kern presented the Herman Purdy Scholarship to 4-H and FFA members, from the left Samson McGargle, Ava Allison, Amelia Russell, Isabella Whitsel and Natalie Cook during the Junior Livestock Sale at the Huntingdon County Fair Friday. The scholarship was started in 1985 when Scott Brown donated his proceeds from the sale to start a scholarship in Mr. Purdy’s name. The respected livestock judge lived in Hartslog Valley and served as a livestock judging coach and raised livestock himself. Mr. Purdy passed away in 1985.
