The Putnam County Master Gardener Association awards its 2025-26 scholarships recently. Those present include (from left) club members Nathan Edwards and Kim Dickerson, scholarship recipients Alexa Newby and Madison Newby and club member Pat Johnson.
Alexa and Madison Newby have been awarded scholarships from the Putnam County Master Gardener Association for the 2025-26 academic year.
Alexa will be entering her sophomore year at Purdue University. She is pursing a degree in landscape architecture with a minor in turf management. She would love to implement her landscape architecture/design skills in the golf world and someday work on a project as the head designer of a golf course.
Madison will be entering her junior year at Purdue. She is pursuing a double major in agronomy and natural resources. She hopes to pursue a career working with agriculturists, educating them on the importance of soil conservation and the positive effects that it can have on their farming operations as well as the environment.
