Queen Creek foundation seeks scholarship applications – Queen Creek Tribune

Applications for the Queen Creek Schools Education Foundation scholarships and grants are open for district seniors and staff.
Members of Queen Creek Unified’s Class of 2026 can earn scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 as long as they apply by the deadline on March 23, 2026. The foundation awarded $81,000 in student scholarships to this year’s graduating class.
Through fundraisers and partnerships with the community and local businesses – including Progressive Roofing, Grace Design (formerly Orcutt Winslow), and Chasse Building Team – the foundation is truly a community effort.
The nonprofit’s mission is to “encourage responsible citizenship while supplementing growth and learning opportunities for both students and teachers.”
Teachers can apply for a grant of up to $1,000 to use on personal development, classroom supplies and materials, such as pocket-sized copies of U.S. Constitutions.
“This is something where, financially, my family has it kind of rough,” said past recipient Ethan Potthoff in a district video, “And getting this scholarship guarantees that I’m going to be able to pay for at least the first two years, so I can work to make the money up for the next two years.
“So I mean financially, this scholarship is a really big deal.”
In another video, former principal Julie Oster says, “So often, teachers are using money out of their own pockets to supplement the resources that they want to provide to their students in the classroom, just to give them that maximum opportunity for learning.
“To have a foundation whose sole focus is to give money directly back to the classrooms in the form of teacher grants and student scholarships is unbelievably helpful.”
There are four scholarships funded annually by the Queen Creek Schools Education Foundation Board of Trustees that are each worth $2,500.
Those Pride of Queen Creek Scholarships are awarded based on financial need, community involvement, service, leadership, character, and academic achievement.
The foundation also funds a STEM and a fine arts scholarship. The former, for students pursuing careers in STEM disciplines, are awarded based on academic achievement and demonstrated excellence in STEM activities.
The fine arts scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement and demonstrated excellence in fine arts, leadership, and character.
Students may also apply for scholarships funded by individuals and families, such as the Banner Health scholarship for students pursuing a career in the medical field.
The Nathan Martens Memorial Scholarship was established in honor of a Queen Creek High School graduate and U.S. Navy Corpsman who died while serving in Iraq in 2005.
Students can talk to their school’s advisor or go to the district’s website to learn more about available scholarships. To apply for scholarships, students should go to GoingMerry.com, which can also be accessed from qcschoolseducationfoundation.com
Grant applications are emailed out to principals for distribution to teachers.
The Queen Creek Foundation holds two main fundraisers in the fall and spring. For information, email qcschoolseducationfoundation@gmail.com.
