Seven full scholarships are being offered to local high school students for a seven-day arts and ecology expedition at Rabbit Island this June.
With assistance from adult mentors, the selected students will pursue projects in fields such as art, ecology, writing and wilderness crafts.
Rabbit Island is a 91-acre protected wilderness located four miles off the east coast of the Keweenaw Peninsula.
The program will take place June 16th through 23rd. The scholarships cover all associated travel, food, lodging and other necessary camping supplies. They are provided by the Rabbit Island Foundation.
Applicants must be entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year of high school (or equivalent) this fall, be passionate about arts, the environment or natural sciences, and submit a letter of interest along with a letter of recommendation.
