The Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice recently awarded $1,000 scholarships to six students across Sussex County as part of its annual Charlotte King Scholarship program.
Named for SDARJ’s founder, the program recognizes Black and African American students from Sussex County who are continuing their education beyond high school and have demonstrated concern for furthering racial understanding and justice, qualities of citizenship and leadership, and service to their school and community.
The selected students are Samuel Mincey and Alessandra Broussard, Cape Henlopen High School; Patrick Belle, Caleb Murat and Uriella Newcomb, Laurel High School; and Alyssa Molock, Sussex Technical High School.
For 2024, the Charlotte King Scholarship program received generous donations from Ocean Atlantic Sotheby’s International Realty and Darlene O’Neill.
SDARJ is a nonpartisan organization that educates, informs and advocates for racial justice, equity and fair opportunity in the local community. For more information, go to sdarj.org.
