More than $145,000 in scholarships was awarded to about 70 Ramona High School seniors at the school’s Senior Scholarship Night, held May 21.
“I’m so proud of RTown,” said RHS Principal Antoinette Rodriguez, who is retiring after this school year. “The community of Ramona truly takes care of its own.”
The amounts ranged from $100 to $2,500, and came from more than 40 organizations, businesses and individuals in the community.
Held outdoors on the school campus at 1401 Hanson Lane, the event was attended by more than 200 families, friends and residents. Most were beaming with pride as the student’s names were revealed. Many of the parents spent time between their seats and a photo staging area, making sure they caught their own pictures of the special evening.
“There are so many businesses and organizations that support and give back to our seniors as they take on their next journey. This is a special place,” Rodriguez said.
As the school year winds down, senior finals take place May 29 and 30. The last day of school is Thursday, June 5, and graduation takes place that evening beginning at 7 p.m.
