RCACF Announces Scholarship Recipients! – KRSL.com

The Russell County Area Community Foundation (RCACF) is pleased to announce 105 scholarships totaling $594,700 awarded through the Foundation to area students. RCACF manages 13 scholarship funds established by donors who believe in the youth of our area and want to support their pursuit of higher education.
The Sean Paul Banks Memorial Scholarship is for students graduating from Russell Jr/Sr High School who are involved in sports their senior year and maintain high academic standards. The recipients of $600 scholarships are Annika Nichols and Teagan Pfeifer.
The Adolph Boehler Student Aid Fund is for students graduating from Russell Jr/Sr High School. Alyvia Stevens and Abby Strobel received $1,500 scholarships.
The Doran and Bina Dole Scholarship is for students graduating from Russell Jr/Sr High School. Sara Grieve received a renewable $2,500 scholarship. Jayden Brusoe received a $2,500 scholarship.
The Kenneth V. Dumler Memorial Aid Scholarship is for students graduating from Russell Jr/Sr High School. Brayden Suchy received a $1,800 scholarship.
The Elaine Hilger Scholarship is for students graduating from Russell Jr/Sr High School with an interest in music or a career in the medical field. Hannah Krug, Annika Nichols and Maidson Sohm received $1,000 scholarships.
The Joshua Scholarship is for students up to age 30 who are graduates from a high school in Russell County. This scholarship is a permanent endowment of several million dollars created by Dr. Starr F. Schlobohm, who desired to share his success in the oil and gas business with the Russell County area. Annual gifts from his education trust will help the scholarship fund grow to significant levels. A percentage of the funds are allocated annually to scholarships. Students receiving $15,000 scholarships are Regan Betts, Maci Clark, Elijah Fontanez-Marie, Sophia Guiterrez, Kimberly Lopez Lemus and Anna Thielen. Students receiving $10,000 scholarships are Laurel Beckman, Cole Birky, Jordayn Burhle, Haley Cerecero, Dax Ervin, Hannah Krug, Kirsten Kyger, Lauren Myers, Annika Nichols, Brooks Nichols, Mason Rohr, Joshua Sohm, Jacob Sohm and Aniya Stierlen. Students receiving $7,500 scholarships are Jayden Brusoe, Lindsey Cole, Bailey Dollison, Camille Dortland, Avalon Garland, Roman Hernandez, Lily Jones, Kyle Lampert, Tyler Lampert, Marissa Myers, Abigail Myers, Emerson Nichols, Kaitlyn Nichols, Emme Pfannenstiel, David Pummell, Kelvie Reeves, Rylan Reeves, Aidan Rohr, Madison Sohm, Addison Unrein and LaAries Winzerling. Students receiving $5,000 scholarships are Brooke Birney, Taylor Birney, Cheyenne Blundon, Anthony Bonaccorso, Brynn Coleman, Chesney Cunningham, Hannah Dapogny, Harlee Donavon, Graham Dreiling, Kierra Eck, Caleigh Evans, Cameron Farmer, Lauren Franks, Hailey Gier, Gracie Gray, Sara Grieve, Emma Karst, Gracie Karst, Ethan Koetkemeyer, Kelly Lopez, Gillian Lynch, Wyatt Middleton, Rylee Miller, Elizabeth Morgenstern, Kayla Noller, Teagen Pfeifer, James Pummell, Janae Schulte, Jaelynne Seirer and Isabella Somers. Students receiving $2,500 scholarships are Camden Backhus, Jon Dockendorf, Parish Laurie, Zachary Martinez, Jayden Ney, Seth Schneider, Kamryn Steine, Alyvia Stevens, Abby Strobel and Brayden Suchy.
The Murphy Memorial Scholarship is for high school seniors living in areas served by the following school districts: USD 299, 392, 399, 407 and 432. Makayla Murphy received a $800 scholarship.
The David Ochs Memorial Scholarship is for students graduating from Russell Jr/Sr High School. Jayden Brusoe and Ethan Koetkemeyer received $2,475 scholarships.
The Pohlman Family Scholarship is for students graduating from USD 407 or USD 399. Recipients of $800 scholarships are Aubrey Birney and Makayla Murphy.
The Paul E. Ruggels Memorial Scholarship is for college students who have graduated from Russell Jr/Sr High School or Natoma High School, with preference to students pursuing a degree in a health care related field. Janae Schulte received a $2,450 scholarship.
The Gerald W. Stoppel Academic Scholarship Fund is for students graduating from Russell Jr/Sr High School or a former graduate of Russell Jr/Sr High School. Recipients of $1,000 scholarships are Dax Ervin, Marissa Myers, Madison Raybern, Kelvie Reeves and Ryan Reeves.
The Ervin and Denzell Zimmerman Memorial Scholarship is for students graduating from Russell Jr/Sr High School who intend to earn a degree in education or agriculture. Emma Karst received a $900 scholarship.
The Russell High School Class of 1952 Scholarship is for students graduating from Russell Jr/Sr High School. Ethan Koetkemeyer and Alyvia Stevens received $1,250 scholarships.
Applications for the 2026-2027 scholarship season open November 1, 2025 with a deadline of February 15, 2026. Area students up to age 30 are encouraged to go to rcacf.org and take the scholarship eligibility quiz then apply as appropriate. Scholarship awards vary annually and are not guaranteed.
