Recent high school graduates received numerous scholarships, including:
Athena League
ScholarshipTwo recent Athens High School graduates are the 2024 recipients of the Lynn Gilbert Trent-Beverly Berry Crutcher Scholarship.
Hannah Turner, daughter of Kimberly and Michael Turner, and Katrina Wiggins, daughter of Amanda Moore, were awarded this scholarship based on their academic achievement, school involvement and service to their community.
At Athens High School, both girls were members of the National Honor Society and Beta Club. While Wiggins was actively involved in varsity soccer, where she was captain for two years, Turner was busy excelling in varsity golf, where she was team captain for one year.
Wiggins was active in various leadership positions while at Athens, serving as vice president of her school’s Student Government Association as well as vice president of the Southern Association of Student Councils.
Wiggins was also involved in the community, where she assisted at Birdie Thornton School, volunteered at Life South Blood Drives, helped kids at the Lions Club Kiddie Carnival and was a member of the Mayors’ Youth Commission.
Following graduation, Wiggins plans to attend Howard University in Washington, D.C., where she plans to major in Political Science and ultimately earn a law degree.
Turner was involved in her community as a member of the Limestone County 4-H Youth Commission, serving as a secretary at Huntsville Miracle League Network. Through her church, Clements Baptist, she was an active participant in Huntsville service projects, helping to remodel and refurbish low income homes.
This fall she is planning to attend Auburn University to major in Nutrition Sciences on the pre-physician assistant track. She plans to continue her studies after Auburn by going to physician assistant school to become a pediatric neurologist physician.
NaphCare Charitable Foundation ScholarshipIn pursuit of its mission to advance the safety and wellbeing of communities through recent educational programs and scholarship opportunities, the NaphCare Charitable Foundation (NCF) announced the recipients of this year’s scholarship awards at Clements High School.
The local winners from Clements High School are; Sarah Moss and Emily Gilliam.
“We are proud of this year’s recipients and look forward to seeing what they accomplish in the future,” Deanna Newton, Executive Director of Educational Giving, said.
Since 2019, NCF has awarded a total of 12 scholarships to graduating seniors at Clements High School. The NCF scholarship benefits graduates pursuing a two-year associate’s degree or approved training program at any accredited technical, trade or community college.
