HOUSTON — Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo announced today that it is awarding a record $10.5 million in scholarships to the “largest ever class of Texas students.”
They are giving 529 students a $20,000 scholarship to support their four-year undergrad studies. The rodeo’s scholarship program, which supports a wide range of disciplines including agriculture, STEM, education, and business, is a core part of the organization’s mission to invest in Texas youth. This year’s scholarship awards are part of the Rodeo’s broader $14.7 million scholarship commitment and its total $28 million investment in youth and education across the state in 2025.
“These students represent the very best of Texas, and supporting their education is at the heart of everything we do,ā€ said Chris Boleman, Rodeo president and CEO. ā€œWith the support of our donors, volunteers, sponsors, and loyal attendees, we are able to remain one of the largest annual scholarship providers in the country. Watching these students shine is a powerful reminder of our purpose.ā€
This year’s scholarship recipients represent several programs under the rodeo umbrella, including Go Texan, Exhibitor, Military and Houston Area. The scholarship class includes:
The rodeo hosted its annual scholarship picnic on Saturday, July 12, at NRG Center to celebrate the 2025 recipients.
Since its founding in 1932, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has committed more than $630 million to Texas youth and educational initiatives.
The 2026 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is scheduled for March 2–22, with the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest set for Feb. 26–28.
