The 4th annual Reed Foundation Community Gala is returning on April 26 where the foundation will honor the recipients of the Reed Foundation scholarships.
“We’ve kind of already identified who we are as a foundation, but it also just keeps the community in the loop of what we’re doing. It reminds them of the great work that we can do — but not only just us but with us all together,” said Cameron Reed, founder of the Reed Foundation.
Starting at 6 p.m., the community will get to enjoy a night of celebration after a year of support. Speakers will attend including Richard Chapman, Pastor John Samanie and Mayor Jamie Heard.
The event will be hosted by Judge Paul Story. Entertainment will come from Frankie & Friends.
Three Chambers County students will be recognized as recipients of the Reed Foundation scholarships. Those students are MaKiah White, Molly Williams and JaNiyah Huguley.
The gala will be held at the Valley Community Center this year.
The Reed Foundation is a community organization that supports Lanett youth and senior citizens through events, fundraising and building resources.
The Reed Foundation will be introducing more events this year, such as the Back-to-School Bash.
“One of the main focuses this year is going to be to take that next step of getting the community more involved with some of our outreaches, by going a little harder this year and just getting more volunteers,” Reed said.
Last year, the Reed Foundation hosted a prayer session as part of its back-to-school bash.
As a Christian-based organization, Reed said they will be hosting more prayer- and faith-based events in the coming year as well.
