The long-awaited relocation of the Fellowships and Scholarships Section (F&S), which operates under the Dean of Students’ Welfare (DSW), from the main administrative building to the Vivekananda Amenities Building has been completed. The F&S Section of the University has successfully begun its operations at the new location in the Vivekananda Amenities Centre, DSW’s Office, starting Monday, 25 November 2024.
The formal inauguration of the new premises took place on Monday, 25 November 2024. The event was honoured by the presence of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor B. J. Rao, and the Registrar, Dr. Devesh Nigam, who jointly presided over the opening ceremony. The ceremony was supervised by Professor V. Srinivasa Rao, the Dean of Students’ Welfare, and Professor N. Rukma Rekha, the Deputy Dean of Students’ Welfare. Dr. Naresh Annem, the Deputy Dean of Students Welfare, looks at the affairs of the F&S Section. Staff from the fellowship section and the DSW office attended the inaugural ceremony.
The Fellowships and Scholarships (F&S) Section manages 25 different types of fellowships and scholarships for approximately 3,000 out of 5,300 students on campus. Around 120 to 150 students are estimated to visit the F&S Section daily to inquire about scholarships for Postgraduate (PG) and Integrated PG students, including the Telangana State E-Pass, National Scholarship Portal (NSP), and other state scholarships. The Section also assists with offline Ph.D. fellowships through the University of Hyderabad (UoH), online Ph.D. fellowships offered by UGC and CSIR, and Post-Doctoral Fellowships (PDFs).
An administrative decision has been made to relocate the F&S Section to new premises to enhance accessibility and convenience for scholars and students, who are its primary beneficiaries. The new location offers a student-friendly environment designed to better support university students’ academic and welfare needs. The Dean of Student Welfare urges all students to cooperate with the assistance staff at the F&S Section in its new location to ensure efficient service and smooth operations.
The Dean of Students’ Welfare appreciates the efforts of the fellowship section staff and the DSW office in ensuring the smooth relocation of the F&S Section from the Administrative Building to the Vivekananda Amenities Building on campus.
