The Cass County Area Retired Teachers Association (CCARTA) recently awarded two $1,000.00 scholarships to area high school graduates.
Scholarship winners were Faith Abbott, a Lewis Cass graduate who will attend Manchester College to study music therapy or elementary music and Kaylyn Zeigler, a Pioneer graduate who will attend Murray State with a focus on agriculture education.
During the meeting, Zach Szmara, pastor of The Bridge Community Church, spoke with those in attendance about the legal services The Bridge provides to local immigrants. He said that over 600 immigrants from over 50 countries have been served and over 70 different church leaders have been trained
