The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®) has announced three recent Richland School District Two graduates are among over 2,900 winners of National Merit Scholarships financed by U.S. colleges and universities. These awards will provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing scholarships for the following scholars:
• Zachary J. Burnett of Blythewood High School received a National Merit University of Florida scholarship. His probable career field is aerospace engineering.
•Jackson L. Dowey of Spring Valley High School received a National Merit University of South Carolina scholarship. His probable career field is pharmacy.
• Emma K. Hook of Spring Valley High School received a National Merit University of Alabama scholarship. Her probable career field is mechanical engineering.
This year, 149 higher education institutions are underwriting Merit Scholarship awards through the National Merit Scholarship Program. Sponsor colleges and universities include 77 private and 72 public institutions located in 42 states and the District of Columbia.
