PEORIA – Two Richwoods High School students have earned full-ride scholarships to Ivy League universities through the QuestBridge National College Match program.
Peoria Public Schools announced that Kevin Liao matched with Princeton University through the program, and Johnny Thai matched with the University of Pennsylvania. Liao plans to study physics, and Thai intends to pre-med with a specialization in neuroscience.
Both students received comprehensive scholarships covering tuition, room and board, and academic expenses. They are part of the Richwoods International Baccalaureate program.
“This is truly incredible and shines a spotlight on Peoria Public Schools,” said Richwoods IB program teacher Thomas Hayes.
A third PPS student also qualified for QuestBridge and is guaranteed a full-ride scholarship to a highly selective partner institution. She has chosen to wait for regular decision announcements later this spring, the school district said.
The QuestBridge National College Match is an admission and scholarship process through which high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds can earn early admission to some of the nation’s top colleges and universities.
