INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Friday is college signing day for Indianapolis Public Schools seniors.
Education advocacy organization RISE Indy donated $50,000 in scholarships to celebrate and honor standout students Friday afternoon. Twelve high schools nominated nearly 150 students for $5,000 and $2,500 scholarship opportunities.
Forty-two scholarships were awarded Friday to students wanting to pursue either a two or four-year degree.
One nominee that’s going to Indiana University in the fall says every little bit helps.
RISE Indy’s founder says for a lot of students, the extra boost of $500 – $5,000 could mean a chance at going to college that they may not have had before.
