Three college students and two graduating high school students have been awarded scholarships by the Rochester Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and the Rochester Architecture Foundation to continue pursuit of a career in architecture.
The organization annually award scholarships to high school and college students in the Greater Rochester area. AIA Rochester oversees three and RAF administers two (from the family of Myron Starks and from Women in Architecture).
This year’s scholarships totaled $20,000.
» Jack Christie, who will be entering his fifth year at Alfred State, received the $2,000 Myron Starks Memorial award as well as a $3,000 AIA scholarship. He is the current president of the American Institute of Architecture Students at Alfred State.
» Pallas Hoffmann will be entering her fourth year at Syracuse University. A graduate of Brockport High School, she was awarded $2,000 by AIA Women in Architecture and a $3,000 AIA scholarship.
» Ambrose Weidmann, a member of the class of 2024 at McQuaid Jesuit High School, received a $5,000, AIA Rochester scholarship. He will attend Notre Dame University.
» Savannah Swinter, who will be a sophomore at the University at Buffalo, received a $2,500 AIA scholarship. She is a graduate of Rush-Henrietta High School.
» Lillian Brady, a member of the class of 2024 at Honeoye-Falls Lima High School, received a $2,500 AIA Rochester scholarship. She will attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
