ST. ALBANS — As we said goodbye to the class of 2025, the Rotary Club of St. Albans presented scholarship awards to three exceptional and hardworking Franklin County students.
The Rotary received 37 applications this year.
Isaac Vaillancourt of Enosburg Falls High School
Amelia Partlow of Missisquoi Valley Union High School
“We were pleased with the caliber of all the applications and the demonstration of service above self by our students,” Rotarian Andrew Crossman said.
Whitney Klimas received her award at the Saint Albans Museum on June 10. Crossman presented her scholarship and noted her many accomplishments. Klimas was an active member of the National Honor Society and participated in food, book and toy drives; served as a Student Representative on the Fairfax Development Review Board; and cooked for the Spectrum Youth Drop-In Center. Klimas attended BFA-Fairfax High School and plans to attend the Wentworth Institute of Technology in the fall to major in architecture.
Isaac Vaillancourt and Amelia Partlow attended the June 17 Rotary meeting at Nelly’s. Vaillancourt attended Enosburg High School, spent countless hours volunteering at his church and was active in his school’s JROTC. He will attend Hillsdale College in the fall and plans to major in chemistry.
Partlow attended Missisquoi Valley Union High School, where she served as historian of her school’s National Honor Society, knit hats for neonatal units, cleaned ski trails, made breakfast for school staff on in-service days and volunteered in many other capacities. She will attend the University of Vermont in the fall and plans to double-major in computer science and accounting.
The Rotary received a record number of highly accomplished applicants this year, reflecting the inspiring work our youth are doing to support Franklin County. Rotary’s goal with this scholarship is to highlight the impact and dedication of student volunteers in the community, and the scholarship committee was beyond impressed by the number of caring and motivated applicants who have helped strengthen Franklin County.
