STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Staten Island Rotary Foundation, the giving arm of the Rotary Club of Staten Island chaired by long-time Rotarian John Amodio, awarded scholarships totaling $14,000 to further education for students.
Review committee members include Rotarians Oluremi Cole, Matthew Scamardella and Mark Weg.
Awards were presented to St. John’s University in memory of Rotarian Gladys Schweiger, to the College of Staten Island in memory of Borough President Albert Maniscalco, and to Wagner College in memory of Rotarian Dr. William Smith.
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS PRESENTED WITH AWARDS AND SCHOLARSHIPS
The Dr. Norbert H. Leeseberg Service Above Self Scholarship was presented to graduating senior Tara Murphy of St. Joseph Hill Academy who is attending Washington University in St. Louis this fall, for exemplifying academic excellence and community service.
The Lou DeMartino Community Service Award was presented to Taylor Russell of Tottenville High School for her volunteer work in the community.

The Louis R. Miller Community Service Award was presented to St. Peter’s Boys High School student Christopher Dantoni Jr. for volunteer work within his school and his community.
