FALMOUTH — Rumpke Waste & Recycling awarded scholarships to Pendleton County graduating seniors Jackson Kade Pollard and Calliope Warren to pursue their dreams.
Both received $2,500 scholarships that Rumpke annually grants to graduating seniors in Pendelton County pursuing a two- or four-year degree at an accredited institution, including vocational/trade schools, after graduation.
“Rumpke enjoys assisting graduating seniors by providing two outstanding Pendleton County graduates with scholarships to further their education,” Adam Rumpke, region vice-president, said.
“Jackson and Calliope are passionate about protecting and preserving the environment which is something Rumpke strives to do each day in communities we service. We know both will go on to accomplish great things in their future endeavors,” Rumpke said.
Pollard plans to pursue a career as a travel welder and attend the Kentucky Welding Institute.
“Welding offers me the opportunity to contribute to society in a meaningful way,” Pollard wrote in his essay.
“Welding plays a crucial role in the construction of buildings, bridges and infrastructure, and in the manufacturing of vehicles and machinery.”
He also participated in several extracurricular activities during his time at Pendelton County High School, including Future Farmers of American and an organization called Believers.
Warren plans to pursue a career as a psychiatrist working in criminal justice. She plans to attend Costal Carolina University or the University of Kentucky as a pre-med major.
She was in numerous extracurricular activities during her time in high school, including student council, cross country, track, the academic team, National Honor Society and Navy JROTC. Warren served as president of Student Council and coordinated recycling throughout PCHS.
“Performing this service each week encourages our teachers and classmates to separate recyclable waste, so our environment and resources and managed well,” Warren wrote in her essay.
