The Russell County 4-H Development Fund is a non-profit organization whose mission is to secure funds from private and public sources in order to support 4-H programs, 4-H members, and 4-H alumni.
On April 9th, 2024, the Russell County 4-H Development Fund board met and reviewed six scholarship applications from Russell County 4-H members and 4-H alumni currently attending post-secondary classes. High school graduates and alumni applicants must submit the application with an essay, 4-H permanent record, cumulative 4-H accomplishments, work experience, public service, extra-curricular activities, school transcript, and letters of recommendation from teachers, peers, and 4-H leaders. The Board awarded four graduating high school seniors each a $1000 scholarship. Two alumni applicants were each awarded a $250 scholarship for the upcoming school year.
Russell High School graduating senior recipient Marissa Myers plans to attend Fort Hays State University in the medical diagnostic imaging program. Hays High/Westview graduate Conner Miller is attending Fort Hays State University in the music education program. Russell High School graduate Kierra Eck is attending Barton Community College in the agribusiness program. Sylvan-Lucas graduate Emma Cline is attending Sterling College in the business management program.
Russell County 4-H Alumni recipient Emerson Nichols, attends Kansas State University studying Nutritional Science/Pre-med. 4-H alum recipient Rylan Reeves is in the Marketing program at Fort Hays State University.
These very deserving recipients, along with other active 4-H members who have received event scholarships during this 4-H year, have worked hard in their 4-H, scholastic, and personal endeavors, and are continuing their education to make the best better. The Board congratulates them on their achievements and is proud to support them in their journey.
Without the generosity of our donors, these scholarships and the ability to pay all Russell County 4-H members’ annual enrollment fees, would not be possible. We are grateful to all who help support 4-H youth. If you are interested in helping 4-H members and alumni pursue educational opportunities, please consider donating. Including the Russell County 4-H Development Fund in your estate and memorial planning is a great way to help secure the future of Russell County 4-H. Tax deductible contributions are truly appreciated and can be mailed to Russell County 4-H Development Fund, 309 S. Fossil, Russell, KS 67665, or submitted online, and through the QR code on the display at the Russell County Free Fair.
