Graduating Salem Community High School seniors have earned more than $1.3-million dollars in scholarships.
Students were presented the scholarship awards along with numerous other awards for being tops in their area of study at Senior Awards Night.
Cole Casburn was named Senior Volunteer of the Year and Kennedy Finney as Outstanding Senior of the Year.
Bailee Jaq Taylor was honored for having perfect attendance all four years of high school. Sierra Blank and Braden Rector were honored for perfect attendance their senior year.
Lauren Burge was honored as Outstanding Math Student, Sadie White as Outstanding English Student, Lauren McMullin-Woods Outstanding Family and Consumer Science Student, Keylie Hancock and Riley Vincent as Outstanding Child Care Students, Claire Gordon as Outstanding Clothing and Textiles Student as well as Outstanding Artist, Aurora Waggoner as Outstanding Culinary Arts Student, and Makayla Braddy as Outstanding Co-Op Student.
A number of band awards were presented. They include Olivia Howe and Cole Wimberly as Outstanding Vocalist, Kiley Vieira and Jaci Gammon as Choral Director’s Award, Alex Vaughn Color Guard Award, Ameliese Aaron and Larisa Carpenter recieved the Kohrig Memorial Award, and Olivia Howe the John Phillip Sousa Award. Band Director Awards were presented to Sierra Blank, Kylie Engel and Luke Young.
The Outstanding Drama Student Awards were presented to Kylie Engel and Olivia Howe, Johnathon Short the Senior Technology Award and Canden Patten as Green Team Recycler of the year.
In nursing, Bailey Jaq Taylor and Sadie White were named outstanding nursing assistant students and Savannah Arnold as Outstanding Phlebotomy Student.
Other award winners were Drayton Potter Outstanding General Studies Student, Kennedy Finney Outstanding Science Student, Jalen Inlow and Drayton Potter as Outstanding Social Studies students, and Lauren Burge, Kennedy Finney and Kierstyn Lyday Outstanding Spanish Students, and Daniel Wilkins and Kennedy Finney Outstanding Physical Education Students.
In vocational classes, Cade Struckhoff received the Golden Anvil Award, Colton Starnes Building Trades Student of the Year, Future Auto Technicians Award to Logan Lockhart, AJ Wilkins Future Agriculture Award, Ella Douglas Cultivator of Leadership Award.
