Sandpiper Art Gallery and Gifts in Polson has opened the application period for their art scholarship program.
Each year Sandpiper Gallery offers scholarships to deserving students who reside in Lake and Sanders counties and are majoring in art, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, drawing, jewelry, photography and film, fiber art, and graphic art. Those pursuing professional careers in art education, history of art, restoration, scientific/medical art illustration, digital art and design, archeology, and museum curatorship are also eligible.
Sandpiper, a nonprofit organization, began more than 50 years ago in Polson with a mission to encourage and promote appreciation and participation in the arts. As part of its mission, the gallery emphasizes making art available to people and promoting art as a career.
The gallery uses money collected from two summer art festivals in Polson to help fund these scholarships, which are available to students accepted or currently enrolled in college, specialized art schools, and vocational institutions.
Students may get applications from three sources: their high school, by email at Sandpiperartgallery306@gmail.com or from the website: Sandpiperartgalleryandgifts.com/scholarships.
Students who have won a scholarship award in the past are eligible to reapply.
Students must email or deliver scholarship applications no later than March 31. For additional information visit Sandpiperartgalleryandgifts.com/scholarships, email sandpiperartgallery306@gmail.com or call 406-883-5956.
