SANTA FE STRIDERS NEWS RELEASE
The Santa Fe Striders are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2025 Santa Fe Striders Scholarships for cross country and/or track athletes. Seven thousand ($7,000) was awarded among the five student athletes. The Santa Fe Striders Scholarship is an athletic scholarship based on athletic accomplishments with criteria for academics and community service. This is the second year the HelenAnn Phillips Inspiration Scholarship was awarded. The 2025 Santa Fe Striders Scholarships were funded by Admiral Robert and HelenAnn Phillips and the Corrida de Los Locas race.
REBECCA BEAUXÂ is a graduate of Los Alamos High School. She will be attending Fort Lewis College to major in Exercise Physiology. Rebecca will compete for the cross country and track & field programs. She qualified for the District and State Championship meets all 4 years in cross country and track. In cross country, Rebecca earned 2 District medals and 2 medals at the NMAA 4A State Cross Country Championship meet. In track, Rebecca earned 4 District medals and 4 medals at the NMAA 4A State Track & Field Championship meet. She was on the Academic All-District team all 4 years for cross country and track. Rebecca graduated with a 4.0 GPA. Rebecca was involved in Concert Orchestra, National Honor Society, Church Youth Group and M.A.S.H. (Multiple Avenues for Successful Healthcare) program. BENJAMIN SANCHEZÂ is a graduate of Los Alamos High School. He will be attending Portland State University to major in Architecture. Benjamin will compete for the cross country and track & field programs. He has earned 3 medals at the District cross country meet and 2 medals at the NMAA 4A State Track & Field Championship meet. Benjamin is a 3X District cross country All-Star and received All-State cross country honors 2X. In track, he is a 4x District All-Star and received All-State honors 3X. Benjamin led the distance team to District and NMAA 4A State Track Team Championship titles. He has done church community service, was a member of Key Club and volunteered for the Jemez Mountain Trail Run. Benjamin graduated with a 3.2 GPA. Courtesy photo
DANIEL BUSEMEYER is a graduate of Santa Fe High School. He will be attending the University of Colorado, Boulder to major in Mechanical Engineering. Daniel plans to compete for the track team. In cross country, Daniel was named to the 2023 All District Class 5A team. He was named to the 2021, 2022 & 2023 All-Academic Cross Country teams. In track, Daniel qualified all 4 years for the District and State Championship meets. As a junior, Daniel medaled in the 800-meter run and was a member of the State Championship 4×400-meter relay team. Daniel received All-Star District Honors and All-State Honors the past 2 years. He was a 4x member of the track 5A All-Academic team. Daniel was a member of the 4×400-meter relay team that set the 2025 NMAA 5A State Championship Meet record. Daniel graduated with a 4.17 GPA. COLETTE BIBEAULT is a graduate of Los Alamos High School. She will be attending the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs to major in Exercise Science. Colette will compete for the track and field teams. Colette competed on the track team all four years. She qualified for the District and State Championship meets all four years. Colette was the 2X NMAA 4A State Champion in the 300m hurdles. She is the current school record holder in the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles. In 2024, Colette was named the New Mexico State High Point Athlete. Colette helped lead the track team to NMAA 4A Track and Field Team Championship titles in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. Colette was an active member of 4-H and served as the Vice President of Rio Arriba County 4-H. Colette graduated with a 3.8 GPA. Courtesy photo
MICHAEL BANE is a graduate of Los Alamos High School. Michael will be attending the United States Air Force Academy and plans to major in Aeronautical Engineering. He plans to compete for the Academy’s cross country, marathon and/or triathlon teams. Michael qualified and medaled 3X for the District Cross Country Championships. He qualified for the NMAA 4A State Cross Country Championship meet 3x and medaled 1X. In track, Michael qualified for Districts 2x and earned 3 medals. During his sophomore year, Michael qualified for the NMAA 4A State Track & Field Championship meet. Michael was a member of the Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society and the Altrusa Chapter National Honor Society. Michael graduated with a 4.0 GPA.
