COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – While the food, rides and entertainment of the South Carolina State Fair are things to celebrate, their scholarship program and Cookie Kitchen are something to remember as well.
The Pro Kitchen Cookie Kitchen, located in the Rosewoods salon at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds, have returned this year to sell warm chocolate chip cookies to raise money for the fair’s Ride of Your Life Scholarship.
The scholarship awards 53 high school students across South Carolina with $10,000 to pursue higher education at a public or private college, university or technical college in the Palmetto State. The scholarship is given to the students $2,500 per year.
Each cookie sold contributes to the scholarship program.
In addition to the Pro Kitchen Cookie Kitchen, Oliver Gospel Mission is serving coffee through their Roastery program at the same location. Through the Roastery, those guests who don’t care for cold milk can pair their cookies with a cup of coffee, and all funds will go towards providing recovery and emergency services to those experiencing homelessness.
Oliver Gospel Mission said purchasing a bag of coffee provides a night of shelter to someone in need. New this year, the Roastery is offering flavored coffees as well.
