You don’t need us to tell you that a college education is expensive. Here are a few organizations that are looking to defray the costs for eligible students.
Not all of the 2025 scholarship applications are ready yet, but will be soon. We will update this story frequently with the most current information.

Rockland Trust’s annual scholarship program opens on Monday, January 13, 2025.
Applications will be considered based on financial need, academic performance, participation in school and community activities, and unusual personal or family circumstances.

The MathWorks Scholarship Committee announces the opening of the application period for The MathWorks Scholarships. The Town of Natick will award two $10,000 scholarships to high school seniors who live in Natick and have strong academic records in mathematics and science.  Applicants must commit to pursuing a degree in mathematics, engineering, science or related program at an accredited four-year college or university.
Each Scholarship is structured as a four-year award, with the first year being $1,000, the second year $2,000, the third year $3,000 and the fourth year $4,000. Ongoing eligibility requirements must be met to receive the award in the second through fourth years.
Students attending public, private, non-profit and parochial schools are eligible to apply. This scholarship program is open to all high school seniors living in Natick.
Applications will be available soon from the Town’s website at www.natickma.gov.  They will also be available in person during regular business hours at the Office of the Select Board Natick Town Hall, 13 East Central Street, Natick MA 01760.

To be eligible for the A. James Lavoie Scholarship, applicants must demonstrate financial need, academic achievement, and community involvement. They must also plan to attend a four-year college program, and graduate from one of the many public, charter, or vocational high schools in the communities the bank serves. The winner is selected from among eligible applicants by an independent committee on the basis of strength and quality of submitted essays.

Natick High School student-athletes are among those eligible for two $500 scholarships sponsored by the Greater Framingham Running Club.
The scholarships will be presented to local high school runners who plan to attend either a two or four-year accredited college or university and who also intend to run cross-country, track or recreationally while in college.  The winning applicants must exemplify dedication, leadership, running talent, commitment and academic achievement. That is, the award will not necessarily go to the runners in the greater Framingham area with the most success in running, but the track or cross-country team members who have always been committed and consistently work hard to persevere, combined with academic achievement.

The Natick Sons and Daughters of Italy has been awarding educational scholarships for over 50 years. Since 2014 they have awarded approximately $60,000 in Lodge and family scholarships. In 2022, Natick Sons & Daughters of Italy awarded $10,000 to ten local senior high graduates. The civic group presents the Francesco DeSanctis Lodge #1411 award and the Francis J. Cristofori Scholarship award on behalf of Mr. Mark Cristofori.

The 2024 Natick Elks Scholarship application will be open starting Feb. 1, 2025 online and via Lodge communications. The Natick Elks Lodge Scholarships are provided to high school seniors planning to attend a two- or four-year academic program, with at least one parent or grandparent who is a member of the Natick Elks Lodge 1425.  Applications are due by April 1, 2025. Please reach out the the Scholarship Committee with any questions at scholarships@natickelks.org.

The Susan G. Salamoff Internship Program is available to students with an interest in public service.
The program is named in honor of retired Select Board member Susan Salamoff, who served the Town of Natick as a member of the Select Board, as well as in many other volunteer capacities over a span of over fifty years. The program seeks to build on Ms. Salamoff’s legacy of public service by inspiring and developing tomorrow’s local government leaders.
The position is based in the Select Board/Town Administrator’s Office in Natick Town Hall. Interns will report to the town administrator or designee and will be assigned projects outlined in the position description. The intern will gain career-focused, professional development experience through a meaningful and enriching public service-centered program.  It is anticipated that the intern will engage in a wide variety of activities intended to benefit the Town of Natick and advance the policies/initiatives of the Select Board and town administration. It is also anticipated that the intern will have regular and direct interactions with Select Board members, who will serve in mentor/resource roles.

The Friends of Natick Drama Workshop offers scholarships to high school seniors applying in the spring of their senior year. Seniors at all area high schools are eligible to apply provided they have taken part in at least two Natick Drama Workshop productions while in middle school and are planning to attend college that fall. Scholarship amounts depend on funding, the number of applicants, and the extent of their participation in Natick Drama Workshop. Scholarship amounts may change from year to year. The Friends reserve the right to change, suspend, or terminate the scholarship program at any time. Applications must be completed fully and received by May 1, 2025 to be considered.

Every year, Natick Girl Scouts awards two $250 Natick Girl Scouts Scholarships to two graduating Natick Ambassador Girl Scouts who have made major contributions to Girl Scouts and the community.

The Northern Bank Charitable Foundation launched the James E. McGarry, Jr. Scholarship in 2014. It honors the late “Jim” McGarry, Jr., of Woburn, for his 50 years of service to Northern Bank and his lifelong appreciation for local fire and police departments.
All graduating high school seniors, who have a parent or legal guardian employed as a police officer or firefighter in Middlesex County, are eligible to apply. Applications, which can be found here, are due by May 1, 2025.

Scholarships are provided to students who are residents of one of the 25 towns in the Foundation’s MetroWest service area, including Natick. Students must be accepted into an eligible nursing, medical, or clinical program at an accredited academic institution. Application information here.

The Natick Education Foundation each year awards scholarships to Natick High School graduates pursuing careers in education. Contact them here for more information.
Rolling applications.
The Natick Service Council and the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Natick in 2024 announced a scholarship program in memory of the late Mike Rourke, who served the town for over 30 years.
Rourke had been Superintendent of Recreation and Parks and then Deputy Town Administrator. As a longtime resident of Natick, he also participated in many local civic and charitable activities.
The scholarship program is geared towards enabling all Natick residents between the ages of 5 and 18 to participate in activities offered by the Natick Recreation and Parks Department or other Natick-based recreational providers.
Any school representative, representative of the Recreation and Parks Department or other Natick-based program providers can fill out the Mike Rourke Scholarship Program application on behalf of a program candidate and submit the application to the Natick Service Council for review. Contact Natick Service Council for more information to apply for a scholarship.
