Patrick Brathwaite
Friends of former Tampa Bay attorney Patrick Brathwaite — and fellow Hillsborough Community College alumni — are hoping to raise $10,000 within in the next two weeks to establish a scholarship in his name.
A solo practitioner and former member of the Health and Wellness of Florida Lawyers Committee, Brathwaite died May 27, weeks after suffering a severe heart attack. He was 35.
A scholarship fund has been established through the HCC Foundation to support future honors students “on their journey to lead and thrive,” sponsors say.
“Thanks to a generous donor, all gifts made in June will be matched dollar for dollar, doubling their impact,” said HCC Honors Institute Director Dr. Kaya Hamer-Small. “This is a meaningful way for alumni, friends, and the HCC community to come together and celebrate a life committed to education and excellence.”
It is awarded by the Dr. Lydia R. Daniel Honors Program to support students who demonstrate exceptional dedication to their education and professional growth.”
‘To inculcate in its members the principles of duty and service to the public, to improve the administration of justice, and to advance the science of jurisprudence.’
