Students pursuing degrees in mental health fields can apply now for up to $5,000 per year through a Touchstone Foundation scholarship program.
Undergraduate students pursuing degrees in mental health care fields and nursing students working in mental health settings can apply for the scholarship money, which goes toward tuition costs for the winners, the nonprofit said.
Graduate students in fields like psychology, social work, nursing and psychiatry may also apply, and their applications will be considered for a Steinman Foundation fellowship.

Applicants must be permanent residents of Lancaster County, must be admitted to a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree program when they apply, must use the money for tuition and must agree to work a year in a mental health field in Lancaster County for one year per year that they receive the scholarship. Students who don’t meet these requirements may be required to repay the money they were awarded.
Applications — which require a personal statement, a letter of recommendation and a statement of financial need — can be completed online at touchstonefound.org/scholarships. The deadline to apply is May 15 at 11:59 p.m. and scholarship awards will be announced July 19. Graduate student scholarships follow a different timeline.
