Longtime resident Charlie Johnson is being honored with a scholarship fund. (Submitted photo)
PORT CLINTON – Port Clinton lost a local legend, diehard Redskin fan and a dear friend on Nov. 27 with the unexpected passing of longtime resident Charlie Johnson. To honor his memory and legacy, his mother Hanne Boger, siblings Pete Johnson and Nikki Adams, and fellow 1981 classmates have established an annual scholarship in his honor. The Charlie Johnson Memorial Scholarship will be awarded at the PCHS Scholarship night on April 30, 2025.
Over $10,000 in donations have already poured in to the scholarship fund in Charlie’s honor.
“Charlie loved Port Clinton and embodied the spirit of the lake—vibrant, enduring and full of life,” Boger said.
Charlie was a proud member of the Port Clinton Yacht Club, co-owner of American Modular Homes, and sole proprietor of A1 Seamless Gutters. More than that, he was a good friend to all who knew him.
Donations are welcome and can be made at any Croghan Colonial Bank or by mail to Croghan Colonial Bank at 2820 East Harbor Rd., Port Clinton, OH 43452, c/o The Charlie Johnson Memorial Scholarship.
