STRUTHERS, Ohio – The Thomas J. Seefred Trust is offering scholarships of up to $3,000 for eligible students who are facing the challenges of Type 1 diabetes, also known as juvenile diabetes.
The scholarships are available for college students ages 18 to 25 who are completing a standard curriculum leading to a bachelor’s degree at an accredited junior college, college or university. Current high school students are not eligible for the scholarships.
Ohio residents – particularly those who live in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties – are encouraged to apply. An application form can be downloaded HERE. The deadline to apply is June 1, and scholarship recipients will be notified after July 1.
Thomas J. Seefred of Struthers established the trust in 2005. It aims to provide financial support to students demonstrating academic promise, along with considerations for personal statements, recommendations and financial need.
Administration of the trust is overseen by Judge Robert N. Rusu of Mahoning County Probate Court.
