ST. ALBANS — Five Franklin County high school seniors were recently awarded scholarships towards their health-related degree programs from the Martin H. Wennar, MD Health Education Fund.
Each recipient was presented with a $4,000 scholarship at awards ceremonies and at senior nights held at the high schools the seniors are attending.
The 2025 recipients of the scholarships are:
Camryn Benoit from Enosburg Falls High School, who will be studying Nursing
Addison Charron from BFA St. Albans, who will be studying Laboratory Science
Leah Gervais from Enosburg Falls High School, who will be studying Nursing
Halle Rocheleau from BFA Fairfax, who will be studying Nursing
Anna Villeneuve from BFA Fairfax, who will be studying Nursing
Each year, the Martin H. Wennar Health Professions Scholarships are presented to graduating high school seniors entering collegiate studies in a healthcare field. Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit and community service.
The scholarships are funded through the Martin H. Wennar, MD, Health Education Fund. The fund began as the NMC Health Professions Scholarship, established in 1987. In 2003, the fund was renamed and dedicated to Dr. Martin Wennar, a retired general surgeon who passed away in August 2009 following a battle with pancreatic cancer. Dr. Wennar and former NMC chief financial officer Peter Georgeopoulos initiated the fund and its rededication honored Wennar’s long-standing commitment to encouraging health professions.
Congratulations to these winners, and we look forward to hearing about their successful healthcare careers in the future.
