At the 76th annual Bennetts Valley Alumni Banquet held recently in the Bennetts Valley Community Center, Mallory Secco and Quintilio Gavazzi were each awarded $750 alumni scholarships. Secco is the daughter of Gerard and Rebecca Bleggi Secco of Weedville. She plans to attend Regent University and will major in criminal justice. Gavazzi is the son of Lena and Jeff Gavazzi of Weedville. He plans to attend Slippery Rock University and will major in criminology/criminal justice and plans to become a member of the PA State Police. Distinguished Alumni awards were presented to Rebecca Bricen and Vanessa Mirtich for their continued support and service to the community. Daniel Bartoletti entertained the crowd of more than 150 attendees with his talk entitled “Growing Up in Bennetts Valley.” Specially honored classes were 1954, 1964, and 1974. The Bennetts Valley Alumni Association began awarding scholarships in 1954 to graduates who were residents of Bennetts Valley, and since that time more than 150 scholarships have been awarded. Members of the Alumni Scholarship Committee are Donald Chiapelli, Verlie Freeburg, and Rita Fenice.
