Scholarships Day is a much-looked forward to event for the students of P. S. High School in Mylapore.
It is a day when a number of students are handed scholarships which help in their education, since most hail from economically poor families.
This year’s Scholarships Day of P. S. High School was held on February 18 morning at the Dakshinamurthy Auditorium in the same campus.
Scholarships of value from Rs.1200 to Rs.9900 were awarded to many students who now study in various classes here.
One student, of Class 12 said that he will put away this money to buy books and part fund the fees when he gets admitted to college next year.
Another student, of Class 10, said that this money would allow him to buy some guides and text books he needed for studies besides spending on stationery he needed for his daily study.
School Headmistress Kala says that besides the money helping students to fund what is an immediate and key need for their studies, the scholarships are also seen as prestigious awards given only to those who shine in academics and need financial support.
