The seventh annual Scholarships for Success event, held on March 6 at the Crawford Success Center, brought together the Crawford County community to celebrate education, leadership, and local talent. The annual giving event raised close to $30,000.
The evening included live and silent auctions and was made possible through donations from area businesses, artists, and community leaders, raising funds to provide scholarships for local students.
A key highlight of the evening was the presentation of the new Leadership Award wall, which honors individuals whose exceptional leadership has made a significant impact on the Crawford County community. The 2025 Leadership Award was presented to Doug Weisenauer, who served as the county commissioner in Crawford County and was recognized for his tireless dedication to fostering growth and success within the area. He is one of the key figures who helped the Crawford Success Center get started in 2015.
In addition to the Leadership Award presentation, the event celebrated the scholarship recipients for the 2025 academic year. The North Central State College Foundation awarded $500 scholarships to students from Bucyrus, Buckeye Central, Crestline, Colonel Crawford, Galion, and Wynford high schools.
Also, a check presentation was held this year celebrating a new partnership between North Central State College and the Crawford Success Center with Baker’s Pizza and Old 30 BBQ. This will allow customized training for their current workforce needs while also offering an associate degree scholarship for each business and four total college certificates.
“We are proud to be able to continue this important tradition of supporting students from Crawford County,” said Nate Harvey, manager of the Crawford Success Center. “The scholarships and the Leadership Award wall represent the heart and soul of this community, and we are grateful to the businesses, artists, and community members who helped make this event possible.”
Attendees had the chance to connect with local leaders, bid on unique auction items, and celebrate the achievements of the community. The event demonstrated the strong spirit of collaboration and support that defines Crawford County and ensures the continued growth and success of its residents.
The funds raised from the evening’s auction and donations will directly benefit Crawford County students, helping them access the education and opportunities they need to succeed.
The 2025 Scholarships for Success was made possible through several sponsorships including OhioHealth, Avita Health System, Watts House of Insurance, Wise Funeral Service, North Central Ohio Media Group, Lind Media, Tom and Pam Holtshouse, Dr. Joe and Susan Shadeed, Ohio Mutual Insurance Group, Park National Bank, Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center, Baker’s Pizza & Old 30 BBQ, Buckeye Community School, and auction partner Castle Auctions and Appraisals.
