Georgia Southern University’s scholarship programs for incoming and current students unlock opportunities for academic excellence and financial support.
We understand the importance of easing the financial burden associated with pursuing higher education. To build a path to social mobility for all students, we extend scholarships that recognize and reward outstanding achievement, leadership and potential.
Our scholarship programs support learners at every stage of their academic journey, and through the generosity of donors, we are able to financially assist students across various fields of study. At the same time, we offer recommendations for additional external funding opportunities.

Incoming first-year and transfer students have access to a range of scholarship opportunities administered by the Office of Admissions at Georgia Southern, including institutional, foundation and academic scholarships designed to support their educational journey from the beginning.

All first-year students who apply for admission and submit all required materials by February 1st are automatically considered for merit scholarships. There is no need to complete a separate scholarship application for merit-based aid. The University will send notifications of awards to students in the spring.
Limited scholarships are also available for transfer students, and we will evaluate applicants prior to each semester. View transfer student scholarships.
In Georgia Southern’s multi-campus Honors College, a community of driven, curious scholars engages in an elite set of meaningful learning opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. Incoming first-year students interview for several Honors College scholarship opportunities, including full tuition and comprehensive package scholarships.
We will invite select applicants who apply by February 1st to campus for scholarship interviews.
Southern Leaders students participate in dynamic leadership courses, actively address community issues through service initiatives and craft special projects designed to make a lasting positive impact. They also have the potential to earn scholarships for their contributions to the organization.

The Georgia HERO Scholarship Program is funded by state appropriations. The maximum amount awarded to an eligible student is $2,000 per Award Year. The award amount is subject to change during the Award Year.

Please include a memo that includes the student’s name and Eagle ID. If you have more than one student receiving the scholarship, you can send separate checks or include them all in one check. As long as you identify the student name, Eagle ID, and the amount due to each student, we can process it to disburse to the students. All scholarships of $500 or more will be split into two semesters (example: $250 Fall 2023 and $250 Spring 2024) unless otherwise noted on the memo.
