INTRODUCTION

Schwarzman Scholars are selected from an international pool of distinguished candidates. Prospective Scholars are expected to demonstrate academic excellence, exceptional results in their field, and outstanding leadership qualities. The Schwarzman Scholars experience is anchored in a rigorous and immersive Master of Global Affairs degree program at Tsinghua University in Beijing.

Eligibility

In addition to demonstrating extraordinary leadership skills, the ability to anticipate and act on trends and changes in their context, strong intellectual capacity, and exemplary character, candidates must meet the following criteria.

  • Must have an Undergraduate Degree
  • Candidates must be at least 18 but not yet 29 years of age as of August 1 of their Schwarzman Scholars enrollment year (for the Class of 2024-2025, as of August 1, 2024).
  • Applicants must demonstrate strong English skills, as all teaching will be conducted in English. If the applicant’s native language is not English, official English proficiency test scores must be submitted with the application

Scholarship value

The extraordinary students selected to become Schwarzman Scholars will receive a comprehensive scholarship that will include tuition and fees, room and board, travel to and from Beijing at the beginning and end of the academic year, an in-country study tour, required course books and supplies, health insurance, and a personal stipend.

To apply, you must complete an online application form and submit the required documents by the deadline. Applicants from the US and other countries must apply before 19 September 2023.

Applicants who hold passports from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macao can apply until May 2023 (TBA).
