The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Scholarship Foundation is accepting applications for scholarships from high school seniors graduating in 2025 who reside in Scotch Plains or Fanwood.
Scholarship applications also are available to residents currently attending college or other post-high school institutions.
The scholarships are intended to support the educational endeavors of students in the community.
The Foundation offers numerous scholarships with varying criteria. Some awards are need-based, while others consider factors such as the applicant’s intended field of study or participation in certain high school activities.
The primary eligibility requirement is that the applicant must reside in Scotch Plains or Fanwood, but they need not be a graduate of Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School.
To apply, students must submit an electronic application, available at www.spfscholarshipfoundation.org, along with a personal essay, a letter of reference, and an official high school or college transcript.
The deadline for submitting applications and all supporting documents is 5 p.m. Feb. 7.
“The Foundation is proud to uphold the commitment to support the educational endeavors of the students in our communities,” said Michelle Wywra, President of the Foundation. “We could not accomplish this without the kindness and generosity of our donors, and the participation and support from the community via our fundraising efforts.”
The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Scholarship Foundation, a 100% volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has been awarding scholarship assistance to local graduating seniors and current college students since 1966.
To date, the Foundation has awarded over $4 million to thousands of students.
Scholarships are made possible through the Foundation’s annual Dollars for Students campaign, as well as over 50 separate honorary and memorial scholarships funded by individuals and groups from the local community and beyond.
