Four outstanding students in the St. Clair Region watershed have been awarded 2025 conservation scholarships by the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA), recognizing their academic excellence and passion for protecting the environment.
Cameron Vieira, from Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School in Strathroy, and Lilliana Ovecka-Doskas, from Lambton-Kent Composite School in Dresden were both awarded with the 2025 A.W. Campbell Memorial Scholarship. Cameron will be attending Trent University this fall pursuing a degree in Conservation Biology while Lilliana will be attending Northern College – Haileybury Campus for the Veterinary Technology – Wildlife Rehabilitation program.
Tanner Grubb, another student from Lambton-Kent Composite School in Dresden was awarded the Tony Stranak Conservation Scholarship while Khloe Tinning from Wallaceburg District Secondary School received the Mary Jo Arnold Conservation Scholarship. Both Tanner and Khloe will be attending the University of Guelph with Tanner pursuing a degree in Water Resources Engineering and Khloe studying Wildlife Biology and Conservation.
The scholarship recipients were formally presented with their awards by the Chair of the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority, Greg Grimes and President of the St. Clair Region Conservation Foundation, Duncan Skinner. “At the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority, we believe that supporting the next generation of conservationists is key to ensuring a sustainable future for our environment,” said Authority Chair Greg Grimes. “We’re proud to back students who are passionate about sustainability and conservation, and we’re excited to see how their careers evolve in the environmental field.”
The scholarships are made possible through trust funds established by the St. Clair Region Conservation Foundation and its donors. In total, $3,000 was awarded across the St. Clair Region this year.
