See which children of Palm Beach town employees received scholarships in 2025 – Palm Beach Daily News
Thirteen children of Palm Beach employees have received scholarships from local nonprofits, part of what Mayor Danielle Moore said is a long tradition of island groups supporting town staff.
At the July 8 Town Council meeting, Moore announced the names of students who had received the Palm Beach Country Club, Thomas Mettler Memorial, Palm Beach Civic Association and Citizens Association of Palm Beach scholarships.
Moore thanked the organizations for their generosity to town staff and support for the town. “These kids are so amazing,” she said.
The 12 students who received the Palm Beach Country Club awards were:
The 13th student, Josephine Mittner, whose parent is design and preservation manager Friederike Mittner, received the award from the Palm Beach Civic Association. She stood out for her outstanding grades and plans to attend West Virginia University’s School of Nursing. Her goal is to go into geriatric home care, Moore said.
The Citizens Association awarded its annual scholarship to Michael Horn, who plans to study microbiology and cell science at the University of Florida, Moore said. He hopes to one day open his own research clinic to study microorganisms and their effects on human health, she added.
Josephine and Michael both also received the Thomas Mettler Memorial Scholarship. The award was created by Mettler’s family in honor of the late council member, who died in 2013 at age 80. Mettler practiced law in Palm Beach for more than five decades and was on the council from 1975 to 1982, serving as council president from 1981-1982.
