For the second year, the new Seigle Scholar Program at Elgin Community College is accepting applications from high school seniors and first-year college students.
This marks the first full-ride scholarship opportunity available through the ECC Foundation for prospective and current ECC students.
The application deadline to apply for the 2025-26 academic year is April 12, 2025. You can access the application via foundation.elgin.edu/scholarships/seigle-scholar-program/
The Seigle Scholar Program was established by District 509 philanthropists Mark and Robin Seigle. The program was established in the fall of 2024 through their gift of $500,000, one of the largest the college has ever received.
“Giving back is what I know,” Mark Seigle said. “Our families raised us with that belief, and there’s no greater joy than helping others.”
Three students made up the first cohort and received a full tuition scholarship for the 2024-25 academic year and mentoring support.
The three students were: Jonathan “Jonny” Buckheister, a graduate of Sycamore Community High School, pursuing a degree in fire science; Demettri Rohn, an alumnus of Harry D. Jacobs High School in Algonquin, working toward a fine arts degree with the goal of building a career in theatrical arts; and Maria Salgado, a graduate of Dundee-Crown High School in Carpentersville, pursuing a degree in psychology and neuroscience.
