Abingdon, VA — It was national signing day around the country and business was open at Abingdon High School where 8 athletes signed D-one National Letters of intent.
Starting with softball player Brenna Green who put pen to paper to play for the etsu buccaneer softball team the junior middle infielder hit .382/.423/.640 with four home runs, 19 RBIs and 23 runs scored this past season and now looks forward to bringing those numbers to the blue and gold.
From the Falcons baseball team pitcher, Jett Humphreys signed a national letter of intent to play for William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA. The 2023 Mountain 7 district player of the year was 8-2 with three saves and a 1.80 era on the mound this past season. Also from the baseball team Beckett Dotson with family and friends, is looking to sign with the VMI Keydets out of the SoCon. Dotson, a 6-foot-4 left-hander went 9-2 with a 2.01 era on the mound …. both players are excited about their next opportunity.
From the Abingdon golf team, Conner Brummitt is also headed to the SoCon after he signed with the Chattanooga golf team, Brummitt was 2-time district player of the year and reached state all 4 years and he also helped lead the Falcons to two VHSL 3A state titles.
From the Abingdon track and field team along with the cross country team, the Falcons Josie Jackson is headed over the mountain to Appalachian state. Jackson who has been a 14 all-state honoree plans to focus on the 5k in cross country and the 800-meter event….
Also from the track and cross country team signing today was Greg Poisson who signed a national letter of intent with Boston University. The 3-time all-state runner was a part of 4 state title teams.
