TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A huge morning at Thomas County Central, as seven of the Jacket’s eight senior wrestlers signed college scholarships, the most the program has ever had at one time.
Good news? No one is going somewhere alone, as Micah Wood and Tommy Hires are Huntingdon bound. Armando Perales, Rodney Edwards, and Mason Brown are going to Andrew College, and brothers Logan and Jaxon Ward will wrestle at Montevallo.
A big day, and all a result of the work these guys have put in.
“We tell them from day one, focus on progress,” said head coach Matt Tanner. “Get better every day, show up every day, get better every day and everything else will take care of itself. They showed up everyday. They worked hard and they got better. We were better as a program because of that, and they’ll be better beyond wrestling. They’ll be better men because of that.”
Thomas County Central’s other senior signed on with the Marines, and will head to boot camp after graduation.
