Seven arts-minded graduating Vacaville high school seniors received scholarships from the Saturday Club of Vacaville Foundation scholarship program, the organization announced recently.
The students showcased their various artistic abilities and talents during performances May 10 at the 125 W. Kendal St. club.
Collectively receiving scholarships of $13,000 to support their career pursuits were Benjamin Rocha, singing, majoring in musical theater; Jenna Cole, art, majoring in environmental design; Philadelphia (Delphi) Adams, ballet, majoring in robotics engineering; Ashley Ede, dance, majoring in psychology; Rylie Stine, saxophone, majoring in psychology; Owen Banuelos, saxophone and guitar, majoring in biology; and Danny Spadaro, guitar, majoring in global jazz studies.
“These students have engaged in art and music since a young age, and their passion for their creative pursuits is evident to everyone,” Barbara Rigdon, a spokeswoman for the club, wrote in a press statement. “As well as their passion for their art, each of these students has been actively involved in community events and volunteer work.”
She added, “While a commitment to majoring in the arts wasn’t mandatory, having a plan to either continue their studies or engage in the arts played a significant role in their selection.”
