RACINE — The Racine Founder’s Rotary Club awarded $12,000 in scholarships to six graduates from area high schools, demonstrating the club’s commitment to and encouragement of Racine’s youth.
Dennis J. Barry STRIVE Scholarships are awarded annually by the club in memory of Dennis Barry, a long-standing and energized Rotarian. Winners display many positive attributes, including “Service above Self,” the Rotary International motto coined by founder Paul P. Harris, who was born in Racine.

“This scholarship is designed to be unique among scholarships,” Rotarian Katie Humphrey, who chairs the scholarship committee, said. “It was designed to recognize active involvement in school and community, significant academic improvement during high school, overcoming adversity and demonstrating ‘service above self.’”
The scholarships are funded by the Racine Founder’s Rotary Foundation with proceeds from the Dennis Barry STRIVE Scholarship Golf Classic, which is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 12, 2025.
