VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — Six high school seniors from the Class of 2025 have been awarded scholarships through the Mutual Credit Union Charitable Foundation, receiving a total of $10,000 in financial support for their college education.
The recipients are Marley Bufkin, Ryan Grey, Caden Barnett, Madison Heigle, Donovan Taylor, and Zion Harvey. Each student was recognized during the foundation’s 3rd Annual Scholarship Reception.
Bufkin received the top award of $3,000. Grey was awarded a $2,000 scholarship, while Barnett and Heigle each received $1,500. Taylor and Harvey both earned $1,000 scholarships.
In addition to the monetary awards, the students were surprised with brand-new MacBook laptops to help them begin their college journeys.
“Our 3rd Annual MCU Charitable Foundation Scholarship Reception was a blast!” Mutual Credit Union shared in a statement. “Nothing is more rewarding than supporting the higher education dreams of our young members. We also surprised them all with MacBooks for college! Their faces say it all.”
The foundation congratulated the recipients and wished them well as they prepare for the next chapter of their lives.
“Congrats to the Class of 2025 and special congrats to our winners Marley, Ryan, Caden, Madison, Donovan and Zion. Oh, the places you will go!” the credit union added.
The Mutual Credit Union Charitable Foundation Scholarship aims to support local students pursuing higher education and has become a meaningful tradition in the community.
