Sadie Godfrey, a recent graduate of Santa Ynez Valley High School, was awarded a $2,000 education scholarship by Solvang’s Chapter TX of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
P.E.O., Philanthropic Educational Organization, is an international nonprofit that provides educational opportunities for women by offering scholarships, grants, awards and loans to help enhance their lives through learning.
The award also marks the first local scholarship Chapter TX has given out.
“We are very proud to give this scholarship to Sadie,” local chapter member Janan Massey wrote. “She has worked very hard to achieve high academic excellence, participated in extracurricular activities and volunteered in the community over the last four years of high school.”
Godfrey is set to attend the University of California Berkeley in the fall, Massey noted.
