HURON, S.D. — South Dakota Farm Bureau (SDFB) has awarded $8,000 in scholarship monies for 2025. Recipients are high school seniors who themselves, or their parents/guardians, are current members of South Dakota Farm Bureau and have been for at least two years.
Applicants were considered for an agriculture-focused or community-focused scholarship, depending on their major and experience with agriculture.
The South Dakota Farm Bureau Scholarship Fund was established in 2005 by Richard and Agnes Ekstrum of Kimball, S.D. Richard served as South Dakota Farm Bureau’s president from 1975 – 1995.
Agriculture Focus Scholarships
Ethan Bovill – Alcester, S.D., graduated from Alcester Hudson High School. He will attend Mitchell Technical Institute, majoring in Agricultural Business.
Bennett Gordon – Whitewood, S.D., graduated from Sturgis Brown High School and will attend Oklahoma State University, majoring in Agribusiness with minors in finance and animal science.
Blaise McGregor – Webster, S.D., graduated from Webster Area High School and is attending Lake Area Technical College, majoring in Precision Ag Technology.
Kylie Mockler – Centerville, S.D., graduated from Beresford High School and will attend South Dakota State University, majoring in Agriculture Leadership.
Community Focus Scholarships
Brooklyn Baloun – Highmore, S.D., graduated from Highmore-Harrold High School, is attending Augustana University majoring in Biology.
Lanie Ewing – Spearfish, S.D., graduated from Spearfish High School and will attend University of South Dakota or Black Hills State University, majoring in Biology or Kinesiology & Sports Management.
Ella Johnson – Frankfort, S.D., graduated from Hitchcock-Tulare High School and plans to attend Mount Marty University, majoring in Nursing.
Lauren Roling – Salem, S.D., graduated from McCook Central High School and plans to attend University of South Dakota, majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders.
