RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – Universities across South Dakota are combining forces to help increase support for student scholarships.
605 Day Funding Futures with Scholarships, a new statewide campaign kicking off on Thursday, is a collaborative initiative between all South Dakota universities and colleges to make higher education more accessible and affordable.
The 605 date purposely represents the state’s area code to help bring together donors, supporters and alumni in South Dakota and all over.
Funds generated through the campaign will support scholarships at every state public university.
“Financial need is one of the greatest reasons our students decline admission to South Dakota Mines,” said Mines director of Annual Giving, Bailey Ellis. “ So, we find it really important to help support scholarships.”
In addition to raising funds for scholarships, the campaign is also a celebration of South Dakota pride. “# 605 For Scholarships” will be used on social media to promote the initiative and celebrate the impact donors have through out the state.
The 605 Day campaign is intended to be held annually every June 5.
