The South Side Alumni Scholarship Board is a non-profit entity that was established by a group of South Side alumni in September of 1983. The board was created to establish a perpetual scholarship fund, encourage South Side graduates to continue their educations beyond high school and to recognize accomplishments of past graduates and teachers by presenting an annual Distinguished Alumni Award.
To date, the board has awarded scholarships totaling more than $150,000. Individuals, families and classes contribute to or sponsor scholarships in honor of or in memory of individuals. On April 25, college, trade or technical school scholarships totaling $8,625 were awarded to 16 students who successfully completed and submitted Alumni scholarship applications.
